Daniella is an Associate at MMAKS Advocates- ALN Uganda. She has developed her legal experience in advising domestic and international clients in various sectors on matters including corporate governance, contracts, regulatory licensing and compliance, conducting legal due diligences, corporate restructuring and routine corporate filings. Daniella takes on the role of a trusted advisor for her clients in legal, transactional and corporate matters and provides pragmatic and creative solutions for risk management and business efficiency.
Daniella is an enrolled Advocate of the High Court and all subordinate courts thereto. She holds an Upper-Second Class LL. B (Hons) degree from Makerere University Kampala and a First-Class Post Graduate Diploma in Legal Practice from the Law Development Centre, Kampala.

Advised SN Power Uganda Limited and SCATEC ASA in a transaction in which TotalEnergies Renewables SAS acquired 100% stake from Scatec ASA and indirectly in SN Power Uganda Limited.
- Part of the team that advised the Office of the Auditor General on its audit of UMEME’s operations in Uganda. This involved a review of the Concession Agreements and interpretation of the commercial arrangements of UMEME to establish the obligations of the Government of Uganda, any outstanding liabilities and any regulatory issues provided for under the Concession Agreement to ensure a seamless end to the UMEME Concession.
- Advised Black Rock Investment Management on the regulatory aspects of the global distribution and sale of its fund in Uganda under the Capital Markets and Collective Investment Scheme regimes.
- Advising Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center on the regulatory aspects of its collaboration with the Government of Uganda and the Uganda Cancer Institute. This involved reviewing Memoranda of Understanding, preparing agreements and collaborating with the Office of the Attorney General and Ministries of Health and Finance for the necessary contract approvals.

Advising Mildmay Uganda on a range of corporate governance matters including advice on convening Annual General Meetings and board meetings, and preparing and reviewing board policies, terms of reference and charters. This brief also involves routinely advising on its regulatory compliance with the Companies Registry and NGO Bureau.
- Advising the 3 entities in ICEA Group Uganda on company secretarial, routine compliance matters with the Companies Registry, Capital Markets Authority and Insurance Regulatory Authority. This brief also includes legal and regulatory advice on the corporate restructuring and set up of the ICEA Group Entities.
- Routinely advising companies on optimal business structuring and set up in Uganda as well as obtaining licenses for business operations including investment licenses, Free Zone developer licenses, and other licenses for entities such as Bellazuri Limited a Ugandan beauty manufacturer, IKA Works Kampala Limited, a member of IKA Group which is a leading manufacturer of laboratory equipment and Roofings Cement, a member of the Roofings Group.

Advised Fred Hutch Cancer Research Center on the regulatory, and privacy aspects of the operation of its bio bank operated with the Uganda Cancer Institute including transfer and disposal of biological samples and data collected from them.
- Advising St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, a leading children’s hospital in the US, on a study conducted in Uganda on the data protection and privacy aspects relating to the collection and transfer of clinical data and genomic data obtained from tumor specimens from hospitals and biobanks in Uganda to the United States.
- Routinely advising clients on privacy compliance matters with the Personal Data Protection Office, and related compliance for IT service providers with the National Information Technology Authority Uganda.
Private Equity & Venture Capital
- Advised the East African Venture Capital Association (EAVCA), an umbrella body which represents development finance institutions (DFIs), private equity and venture capital funds, impact investors among others, on proposed amendments to Uganda’s legal and fiscal framework for structuring locally domiciled private equity and venture capital funds under the limited liability partnership vehicle. This involved a comprehensive and in-depth analysis of various laws, conducting a comparative analysis on other jurisdictions and formulating proposals on fiscal policies and conducting stakeholder engagements which informed the passing of the Partnership Regulations 2025.
